DRINK YOUR WATER PEOPLE! How much does one need a day....

Updated: Mar 7, 2019

DAILY REMINDER--DRINK MORE WATER PEOPLE!

Everyone knows that water is the healthiest beverage on the planet. But did you know that WATER (H20--you Sheldon-ites) makes up 55-60% of the human body?? Most people have no idea on how much or how little of water they drink in a day. Consuming that clear stuff has so many wonderful benefits--- ~flushes out toxins and waste ~keeps skin, eyes, mouth, nose (moisture rich body parts) functioning well ~lubricates and cushions joints ~reduces inflammation ~supports healthy kidneys ~carries nutrients to your cells ~prevents muscle cramps ~helps you feel full ~slows signs of aging ~regulates tempurature and metabolism ~AND SO MUCH MORE

OK! OK! so you know you need to drink it, but how much do you really need??

Depending on your unique body size, the amount of water your body requires will vary. A great rule of thumb (and easy too) is to take your weight in pounds (you can estimate for those of you who won't get on a scale) and divide that number in half! And that's how many ounces of water you need daily.

For example: A person who weighs 200lbs would need 100 ounces (3liters) of water a day. A person who weighs 150lbs would need 75 ounces (2.2liters) a day! 100lbs needs 50 ounces (1.5 liters) a day... See how I did simple (NOT COMMON CORE) but SIMPLE old school math 📷:)

The amount of water to consume will also depend on ~your level of activity that day (you'll need more to stay hydrated after exercise) ~how much caffeine or alcohol you drink daily (yup, you guessed it, you'll need more!) ~the temperature where you live (if it's hot out, drink more!)

BUT I DON'T LIKE THE TASTE.... Well, Get over yourself and make it happen....your body needs it! No, wait, there are solutions for you... ~add a slice of lemon, lime, cucumber or orange to it ~maybe add mint leaves if you want to be fancy! ~heat it and add a lemon

TIPS to get your water in thru the day ~Drink 1-2 glasses first thing in the morning! **you have been asleep for hopefully 6-10 hours, so it's time to hydrate! ~Get a pitcher or container that has the amount of water you need in the day! **it will help you keep track of how much you have already had and how much you need to reach your daily goal. ~Keep a water bottle in your car! **having it close to you at all times will encourage you to keep drinking and meet your goal. ~Use an app on your phone (hydro coach, gulp, myfitnesspal)

Whatever you can do to increase your daily amount of water intake will most definately help your overall health. Be proactive and see what drinking more water will do for you! And remember, if you drink water mixed with barley and hops (Beer) make sure you add a few extra glasses of regular water to balance it all out ;) Cheers!
